Alexander Voitsekhovsky

Alexander Voitsekhovsky

This is a special opportunity to meet the artist and take a journey through a selection of his works and explore the hidden narratives they convey to the viewer.

Alexander Votsekhovsky’s art radiates kindness, love and hope; combined with humour and certain reflections from children fairy tales which work as a therapeutic remedy for one’s body and spirit. Coming from a professional medical background and having worked for over ten years as an intensive care specialist, Alexander seems to intuitively address common human needs and inspirations via his art.

«Art doesn’t come in a form of a specific medicine, and yet it cures us of vacant temptations, provides reserves of vital energy, lifts our spirits and forces us to laugh at ourselves. I recommend you to follow the prescriptions supplied by the doctor and artist Alexander Voitsekhovsky.” Yury Norshtein

Each work is accompanied by a short caption, which as Alexander explains, arrives to him as part of the creative process and thus forms an integral part of the illustration of an imaginary book of life stories.

“This is not a literature, although it involves words. There are lines and colour, however it is not a drawing or painting in its usual sense. It is only when they join together and lose their independence, words and images gain this very independence and individuality…” Alexander Adabashyan

Alexander kindly agreed to come to Cambridge to present his works before showing them in London. Please come and join us at this evening of art and humanity.
