Peter Hewitt, piano
Peter Hewitt devotes his music making to solo piano playing, chamber music and Lieder. Over the last 30 years he has built up many long term musical partnerships and has given over a thousand concerts playing an average of 60 concerts each season. His recital work regularly takes him all around the UK, America & the Middle East.
Peter has devoted a large proportion of his concert playing work to giving charity fund raising concerts. In the lockdown Peter devised and recorded a “Beethoven Bitesize” project, available on YouTube, where he talked about and then played single movements from the Beethoven piano sonatas.
Peter’s repertoire encompasses mainstream works from Bach to Prokofieff but he also maintains a healthy interest in the works of contemporary composers and has given many world premiere performances. He has recorded for BBC Radio and Television, broadcast on Radio 3, Classic FM, Australian Broadcasting Company and New Zealand Radio and also made critically acclaimed commercial recordings for LITmus, Tremula and Meridi
Jill Morton, piano
Jill enjoys a highly successful career as soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Her performances have taken her throughout Britain and across Europe and have received critical acclaim. Since making her professional debut, she has performed in all the major concert halls throughout Britain and has been heard on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night as soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Jill studied with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was awarded the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma (Premier Prix) in her final year. Following her studies, she was delighted to take up the position for a season as Pianist in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada where she performed regularly as soloist and as collaborator with internationally renowned musicians.
After becoming a Mum, Jill was inspired to set up “Encore! Concerts for all, big and small”. This monthly concert series provides an opportunity for preschool children and their carers to experience the thrill of live music in a relaxed and informal environment. The series celebrates its 10th birthday in September 2023.
Recently Jill became a Principal Tutor for the Piano Teachers’ Course UK. The course is specifically designed for pianists and piano teachers who wish to enhance their professional teaching skills. Jill’s YouTube channel showcasing the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses has amassed well over a million views. She has given masterclasses at universities and specialist music schools throughout Britain and is becoming recognised as a competition adjudicator. She also teaches at the Perse school in Cambridge.
