We continue our lecture series Geographies of Russia.

This time we will welcome Natalia Zubarevich, a famous Russian economic geographer, specialising in socio-economic development of Russian regions, and social and political geography. She is a Professor in the Department of Economic and Social Geography of Russia at Moscow State University, and the Chief Researcher at the Centre for Analysis of Income and Level of Life at the Institute of Social Politics, Higher School of Economics, Moscow.

Natalia will present an in-depth analysis of how the Russian economics is coping with wartime realities, such as sanctions, re-orientation of exports to different countries, the increasing role of arms production, and the deficit of manpower. She will talk about how different industries in specific Russian regions are coping with the current crisis, and what are changes in investments. What about the social politics of the state? How are people coping with the new realities, what are their strategies in the way of life and consumption? Can Russian economics grow in these conditions? You will hear answers to these questions and have a chance to ask your own.
