Solidarity Cycling Expedition in Belarus this August
We are looking for volunteers interested in exploring eco corridors in Belarus while trying to promote environmental awareness in a poor region. This is a great way to use your Russian skills in action or make your first steps into the language. Also a good way to explore countryside culture and learn more about the region -- forests, lakes, peat bogs, pagan rituals, crafts events, food foraging in the wild, stops in small villages along the way. You can sign up for 10 up to 30 days on the tour.
The expedition is organized by ECEAT (European Center for Ecological and Agricultural Tourism) which is dedicated to unearthing local traditions for the benefit of stimulating sustainable initiatives in the countryside.

A new Russian Shop has opened in Cambridge. It is small, but full of delicious food, and the owner, Gera, has big plans for the future.
In a neighbouring cafe you can taste Ukrainian, Polish or Lithuanian beer, relax, and may even meet your fellow Russians.
It is located near the Grafton Centre, in Cobbles Yard, off Napier Street: map . If you enter the Grafton Centre from Fitzroy Street, go to the other end (where the escalators are, that take you up to the cinema). Ignore the escalators, go past the Virgin Store, and then turn left into a little a corridor that will lead you outside. Turn right, go past the Barbers and the Post Office, and just around the corner you will see a little shop with a sign saying "магазин" (SHOP) in various languages (Russian, Lithuanian, Polish, etc.)
Another way is from Newmarket Rd; turn into Napier Street, and then left into Cobbles Yard.
